Partly Facetious: The most idiotic FBR form for salaried people
"Yesterday was the last day of fiscal year 2010-11."
"So?"
"So the Federal Board of Revenue became active and began giving deadlines to taxpayers."
"With or without success?"
"Well, you tell me. If a corrupt entity like FBR, and you and I haven't made this charge but the former Finance Minister did then would you pay your tax honestly? I believe the figure he quoted was 500 billion rupees in annual corruption though not by FBR alone, but if that amount is put in the treasury the country would not need and foreign aid."
"Right, and please recall the current debate in the US. The President and his party want to raise taxes and the Republicans want the government to cut expenditures."
"Alas, our government is also thinking like the US President: raise taxes and leave expenditure as is."
"Obama says the money has already been spent so the need is to generate higher revenue to pay for what is already spent."
"I support the Republican position. Slash expenditure including corruption. I am sick and tired of being harassed needlessly. We have a government that does not use taxes for the people that elected it to power and also does not support austerity measures in its own expenditures then why would I want to pay taxes honestly."
"Yes but...?"
"Have you received the most idiotic FBR form for the already taxed ever?"
"What?"
"It's a form to be filled by those whose taxes are cut at source, the salaried class. The FBR wants to know my mobile bill (what if I have a prepaid one) and how much money I take out of the bank..."
"Don't fill it."
"But the form is to be filled by the employee and given to the employer who is required to pass it onto the FBR."
"Such stupidity! It has a question: do you have any other source of income? If I say no does FBR have the capacity to determine otherwise?"
"Their capacity is in stealing from the taxpayer...a good part of 500 billion a year rupees is no joke."
"Agreed."
